Academically, she is a teenager trapped in a six year old body. No, she's a 30-something year old trapped in a six year old body.
She is a unique child.
Just yesterday afternoon, we were riding around looking at/for houses (another story for another post that I've been putting off for fear my neighbors may read). Anyway, O was asleep and E was relaxed and looking out the window.
When we were crossing the bridge over the lake I grew up going to as a child, I started my usual mantra of how much fun I had as a child swimming in that very lake. My husband hears the story every single time we cross that bridge. I look in my rearview mirror to see if E is listening. She is mesmerized by the sparkling water (and, if you're aware of where I'm from, you just cracked up at that last sentence).
Anyway, I asked her if she was listening. She answered in her very solemn, reflective voice "That beautiful water reminds me of Claud M*onet. He likes to paint reflective images and impressions. He would love this view and probably paint the most beautiful picture of it."
"Do you love Claud M*onet, Mama?"
"What? Who? Oh!", I answer.
I can honestly say I never knew him as 'Claud'. I'm stammering for what to say.
Then E says, "Daddy, do you know Claud M*onet?"
Eric answers, "Yes, I think I did read about him once in the twelfth grade".
I came home and 'googled' him. This is what I found.....
On the Bank of the Seine, Bennecourt, 1868. An early example of plein-air impressionism.
Notice the 'reflective' images.
This girl .... she blows me away.

totally dropped my jaw.
you could not have made that up if you tried.... boy, you've got some brilliance in your home!
Oh I believe it! My girls never cease to amaze me- or make me feel slightly stupid:-)
This is adorable!
I'm quite certain that one of my daughters is well beyond her years too.
Once, when my daughter was about 5, my in-laws were visiting, and she suddenly burst into tears. Big crocodile tears. I asked her what was the matter, and she very calmly said, "Momma, I'm just not getting enough attention. I'm not the baby, I'm not the oldest, I'm in the middle, and I just need more attention!" I was totally blown away by her ability to put into words what she was feeling at FIVE YEARS OLD! I'm in my late 30s and can't even do that most of the time!
I can't wait to see what God is up to with your daughter. She sounds truly brilliant. I love that she knew who Claud Monet was! I'm so glad you shared that story on your blog. That's definitely one you're going to want to remember for a long time!
Good heavens, Deidre! She beats all I've ever known or heard of. . . Simply amazing.
Aren't you so glad you have the blog to keep up with all her amazingness. . . It will be fun to read over this one day when you know the rest of the story, i.e. what God has in store for her little life. . .
That's wonderful!
Wow! That is one amazing girl!!!
