Facing Fear

I only have a few minutes, but realized I haven't posted since my time in the hotel.

Facing our fears was the theme for the week and with much prompting from the girls, I took them to an amusement park on Thursday ..... BY MYSELF!

When E first asked to go, I mumbled something about not feeling comfortable, I don't know if I could do it on my own, we don't have the right clothing for an amusement park, etc., etc. E immediately came back with, "Mommy, God will help us do anything. With Him, all things are possible and He will watch over us all day."

Within minutes .... on a whim .... we were on our way. I only packed denim capri pants and decided almost instantly after walking through the front gate that I have never been more hot. Never.

But, we pressed on.

Turns out, it was the most fun we've had together in awhile. Of course, with no camera I don't have a picture which probably made it more fun in reality ... we lived it instead.

When anyone would get apprehensive about getting on a ride (mostly O!), we would pull out the mantra for the day .... "if you let your fears rule you, you'll miss out on a lot of fun and blessings God has for you!" So, even through tears at times, we would persevere and ride the rides ..... always ending in laughter.

Isn't that a perfect example of how God chooses to work through our fears? When we let go and rely on Him through the thing that cripples us, we come out victorious, with laughter and having the best time for having watched Him show off. What a great day! (and what great lessons for my girls as well). God was our constant conversation as we discussed what we could accomplish next ... even praying that God would hold back the rain while we were there - which was O's idea to stop and pray (praise you, Lord!).

On the way out of the park, I was so thankful for the opportunity to rely on God in such a very visible way for my girls to understand in their little hearts. He was so sweet to work in every moment as they chose to ask Him and trust Him for things. They're still talking about it today.

We reached the van, got buckled in and O said, "Whew ... God, you gave us an awesome day!"

Yes, He did. Thank you, Lord.

Girl -
if it is the amusement park I'm thinking of then wow! I don't think I would do that with all my kids alone. I won't even do the pool alone with my kids.....
Good for you!!!

I loved this! Copied your quote and pasted it on my desktop. Great to remember because we all have fears of some kind or another.
