I debated whether to put this on my blog or not, but I have now heard this come out of O's mouth twice so I thought I would document it here. The first time she said it was a month ago while we were at the beach. She asked me again this week. I'm sure there is a reason she is asking such a thing. I just haven't figured it out yet.
Asked out of the blue,
"Mommy, how sweet is Daddy to you in the bed at night?"Much like my reaction both times she has asked, I have no response.

Oh, Deidre, this reminds me of the time several years ago when we were in AZ, staying at my parents house. My husband and I went to the bed room to lay down to NAP. And even though we sometimes use the "nap" as code, we really were napping. Shortly after my brothers and their families arrived and my mom sent my daughter to come get us.
Exhausted from our trip, we were both on our left sides, snuggled up close, spoon style. I woke up to see The Girl peeking in the room, then I heard her run down the hall and say to my parents and my family, "my mom and dad dad are sleeping. My dad is on top of mommy. They do that a lot because my dad really loves my mom."
This is the part were I levitated off them bed, fully awake, and ran down the hall saying, "We were just NAPPING!"
I guess the healthy part of this all, is that my kids, and O are invested in their parents having a healthy relationship. They don' know what really happens behind the closed doors, but they ABSOLUTELY know if what happens behind that door isn't "sweet". I think O's question is precious, and shows that she knows you and your husband are loving a kind to one another.
Sorry for hijacking your comments!
OH MY WORD! That is so funny, Deidre. Kellie's comment had me laughing too!
You make me laugh out loud :)Whatever your answer is to her there will be MORE, MANY MORE. So be ready

Diedre - that really is funny!
and Kellie's story --- that is hilarious too!
But I do like what she says in the end. It's great that kids see their parents as loving each other.=)
lol....that is one inquisitive kid! I kind of got a chuckle at Kellie's response too... Next time she asks, you should say, "Go ask your dad." That's what my parents always said!
I would just say VERY sweet and leave it at that. I HAD to laugh at this though! How cute!
You and your girls CRACK ME UP!!! And you wonder where they get it from? lol
Kellie's comment also made me chuckle!
I agree with what has been said...it's clear that O realizes and knows that you and your hubby LOVE each other very much...and her knowing this is SO very key to her growing up with a healthy understanding....of how a marriage relationship works.
Bless her sweet little heart!!!
maybe she's seen some cartoons where a husband pulls the covers off or something funny & she's wondering if that's how it works...
With her little mind - NO telling what she's been thinking or where that came from :)
That is the cutest story..wonder where her little mind is going. I would just say "Very sweet, Daddy always always kisses me goodnight"!
I have GOT to meet this girl! Brace yourself, I am sure there is more to come!
I agree with the "Very Sweet" answer!
Too stinkin' hilarious!! You definitely have lots of laughs in your future, and probably an equal amount of speechless moments as you ponder your responses!
Glad I saw this here and wasn't asked directly.. I'll tell her that Daddy tells Mommy stories before bedtime just like I do her, and that I always kiss her before going to sleep :.) -Daddy
Oh...I'm laughing. You have your hands FULL over there. Loved Kellie's story.
My almost-five-year old has begun to ask probing questions, too. It IS tough to know how to answer, since I consider 4 to be too young to get into all that.
