A Scary Few Minutes

This morning the sun is shining and my girls went to school happy.  Sometimes it's the little things.

It rained here all day yesterday.  I spent the day straightening the house, baking, studying for a couple of lessons I have coming up and cooking dinner.  I didn't even get my shower until an hour before we were to leave for church.

While in the shower, Emma came running to tell me my Mom was on the phone and it was an emergency.  I had no idea but there was a tornado warning for our area.  I got out quick, dressed and got online to check  it out.  The wind wasn't even blowing.  Within a few minutes, the rain was pouring down and the wind was loud!  I could hear the patio furniture blowing across the back deck.

The girls and I ran to the hall bathroom and covered ourselves with pillows.  I started singing hymns really loud, so Emma & Olivia joined me.

I hate storms! And what's worse is I can't act like I do in front of my girls.  I have to be brave and that stinks.

We had Eric on speaker phone while we were in the bathroom, listening to him pray and keep the girls calm.  It literally passed within a few minutes.

I was SO relieved after those few short minutes.

A couple from our church wasn't so fortunate.  Their house, as well as a few other homes, was leveled last night by the storm.  My heart just breaks for them this morning.  At a time when they normally would have been home, but by God's grace, they weren't.  Please pray for them.

Emma asked me on the way to school why God would allow them to leave their house just so He could protect them, yet allow their home to be destroyed.

I really didn't have a good answer.  All I could tell her was that everything God does is good and He will always mean 'good' for us.  We have to trust His sovereignty and ways even when it doesn't make sense to us.

That's a tough one, isn't it?

Did you let her know those kinds of questions are the same ones you ask & wonder your whole life? ... only on the other side of Heaven...

glad you all were safe.

I found you last statement so comforting. I think it's what the Lord has been trying to tell me since last night. God always means good for us even when we are standing within a pile of rubble. It doesn't always make sense to us.
