sChOoL's OuT! (And Teacher's Gifts)

I was talking with a parent this week that was genuninely sad school was ending.  She didn't want to have her kids home all day.  I had to laugh.  I'm not condemning her because I totally get it.  Really, I do.  I would be lying if I said I haven't lamented the fact that I won't have as much alone time and uninterrupted morning runs around our local college's campus until next fall.

And I'll have two girls to entertain .... and feed ... and keep from fighting (this part scares me :)

BUT, on the glorious flip side, I am sooooo looking forward to not packing lunches, not making the long drive across town, not dealing with homework and discipline cards and spending some fun, quality time with my girls.

I feel more excitement than dread, thank goodness.

Both girls have had a great year.  We were blessed with great teachers this year and will be so sad to say goodbye.  I've learned more about letting the teachers off the hook and recognizing when my girls are being who God created them to be and not what a teacher perceives.  This knowledge is golden.

I'm not even sure if that sentence made sense to anyone but me.  But, I totally get it ;)

So, at 12:00 today, bookbags and lunchboxes will be retired for the summer.  I'm taking the girls (along with my Mom who retired yesterday) for celebratory pedicures.

Then, we'll finish up what little packing we have to do and pray the next week goes by slow as a snail.

First Day of School (August 2011 - First and Fourth Grade) ...

Last day of school .... 2nd grade and 5th grade, here we come! (Olivia doesn't like to talk about it.  She doesn't want to leave First Grade and doesn't want new teachers - she hates change!)
Emma grew over FOUR inches this year (sniff, sniff).  Major growth spurt!

The girls took their end-of-year teacher gifts this morning.  Thank you, Pinterest :)

If you still need a gift, the free printable tags can be found here.

These are simply adorable! You know, if I didn't read blogs I wouldn't even know that I am "supposed" to buy an end-of-year gift...its our first year in school and I'm still learning the ropes! If you don't mind, I'm going to do something very similar.

Thanks. Happy summering!!
