That word for 2012 was Abide. I can say with 100% certainty that I tried to do just that - abide in the Lord.
My quiet/devotion time completely changed. It was less about me cramming in a few scriptures to check off a to-do list and more about just sitting before Him, praying His word back to Him and simply getting still enough to listen.
I felt awkward at first, not knowing how to be still. But, something clicked and I began to crave that time with Him.
And, I'm not finished. Not that I ever will be finished, but when I began praying about what my one word would be for 2013, I kept sensing strongly in my spirit that the Lord and I simply weren't ready to move on to anything else.
So, 2013 will be more of the same. More of learning how to not only dig in His Word for new and life-changing Truths, but to be still enough to hear His voice and receiving what He says.
I'm looking forward to every bit of it.
Also, the LPM Scripture Memory team is starting up again.
God has given me many tools to help me in my walk with Him, but perhaps nothing is as effective as memorizing scripture.
Accountability is key and the accountability I get with participating in this online community is incomparable.
The first 'sign in' is tomorrow and will continue on the 1st and 15th every month. Details can be found here if you're interested. Anyone can join in.
So, what am I expecting from 2013? Only God's faithfulness. I have learned that when I choose to honor Him with my time (not a check list or a set of rules to follow, but a longing to be with Him), He shows up BIG. I'm looking for a lot of that :)

I really feel like I should take part in this for the first time. I would be starting late in the game since I don't have a spiral, but its memorizing His word that truly matters. I look forward to growing through this process!!
Good morning sweet Deidre,
This is exactly what I needed to read today. I as well have a word for 2013 it is HOPE. My husband and I studied what Biblical Hope really is earlier in the year, and it has remained in my heart and I feel the LORD drawing me to it for my word for 2013. I will be doing SSMT as well, and you are right, the accountability factor is priceless.
Thank you again for posting this. Just what my heart needed to read this morning.
Blessings to you in 2013 ~~ dawn
I have emailed Melanie for my 2013 word.... JOY... God has placed that word before me over & over. I even doubted it. God showed me something in scripture that nailed it for me. I am thinking that is an awesome word to follow on the heals of CONTENT.
And I have yet to order my spiral, but I am ready to sign in with my first scripture!
Thank you for being there for me, praying for me and above all encouraging me to focus on the WORD of God!
Love ya!
I've also chosen one word for 2013 - Purpose. I feel like I've just been getting through the day the last few years, so I'd like 2013 to be about doing everything more purposefully, and hopefully being more productive in the process.
And I'm doing SSMT too! I even wrote an iphone/ipad app for keeping track of verses. The little notebook just doesn't do it for me because it's never where I am.
I'm excited for scripture memory team again! May God's word stick and stay in our hearts and minds!!!
My 2013 word is ABIDE as well. Last year it was busyness galore but now that season has passed and it's time to abide in the sweetness and grace of God.
