Christmas 2012

I didn't take near as many pictures this Christmas as I normally do.  No reason other than I just never took the time.

So, since Friday ...

** The girls had their Christmas Piano/Violin Recital.

Olivia played 'We Three Kings' on the piano.  I laugh because for someone who professes to dislike piano and lessons, she marched out there without sheet music and blew us away.  She's such a little stinker.

Emma played Sleigh Ride on the piano and O Holy Night on the violin and I tried not to stand up and yell "Those are my babies!"

I'm extremely proud of my girls!

** Saturday morning, Olivia and I did some last minute shopping, while Eric and Emma did theirs.  We all met back at my parents' house that afternoon because my little brother JP WAS HOME!!!!!! The fact that he was able to be here for Christmas was a huge blessing for all of us!!

**  Sunday morning and night, we had wonderful church services.  I loved having my entire family there.

**  We spent Christmas Eve morning just hanging out and baking.  My parents always have a big gathering on Christmas Eve so that's where we went.  I can't believe I didn't get a single picture while I was there.  I gave everyone a break :)

**  We came home in time to put cookies out for Santa.

(This plate was a gift from my friend, Pam and now that she's no longer with us, I'll cherish it forever.)

Olivia decided Santa needed hot chocolate with his cookies.

** That night was crazy wild in terms of sleep.  As in, NO SLEEP.  None of us were feeling very well, so we were up at midnight, 2am, 4am, 5am and so on ...   When we got out of bed at 7:15 to see what Santa brought, we were all a little out of it :)

The girls got electric scooters (boo for rain on Christmas morning), new additions to their Lego Friends, Nerf guns (with extra ones for their Eric and me - score!), Barbies and several other fun things.

I was excited to give Olivia a gift from us.  Back story:  Emma's 5th grade teacher has a simple organizer on her desk that is FILLED with all sorts of colored markers and pens.  It is HUGE.  I subbed in Emma's class one day and Olivia hung out with me until school started.  She was fascinated with Mrs. Smith's pens.  Olivia is like me when it comes to pens and notepads and office supplies ~ they are her love language.  So, I decided months ago to make her a collection similar to Mrs. Smith's.  I had the best time searching for 12 different pen/pencil/marker sets to go in her stash.

She LOVED it and carried it to every house we visited yesterday.  A perfect gift for someone that draws, colors and writes constantly.

**  I made my traditional Cherry Cheese Danish, while Olivia set the table for breakfast :)

The danish is a yummy treat.  I don't know why I never think to make it any other time of year.  I know Emma would love it if I did :)

**  We spent Christmas Day at Eric's parents' and then my own.  I can say with all honesty my favorite thing was just the fact we were ALL together for Christmas.  Everyone was healthy and happy and that's truly a gift this year.

My little brother heads back tomorrow morning, so we are going to smother him until he leaves :)

It sounds like a wonderful Christmas! I love your girls dresses. My older daughter will not wear dresses this year and it makes me sad....no more matching outfits for the girls.

God surely has blessed us this Christmas. What a wonderful time we had. Hearing all the laughter throughout our home made this Mom and Mawmaw so happy. Tomorrow we have to see JP leave to go back to Pensacola but with lots of goodies to take back with him and a car load of presents. Can't wait to see him again in February. Thank you Lord for your blessings.
