On New Year's Eve, Eric and I had a plan to beat the dinner crowd. The girls and I met him at a restaurant around 4:30. We are such party animals :)
But 'beat the crowd' we did and were back home in our PJs by 7:00.
Call us anytime if you want to know how to party :)
The girls had big plans to stay up until midnight to watch the ball drop. The excitement around here was the fact that Eric bought a receiver for our TV (think a step up from rabbit ears) and we can now get 14 channels. And, no, we haven't jumped back on the TV bandwagon. Eric just realllllly wanted to watch football and I wanted something a little more reliable to watch when/if bad weather comes.
Done.
So, we had a way to watch the ball drop (eventhough we found out we are overly-sensitive to TV now and the commercials about sent me over the edge. We turned it off until just before midnight :) So, the same rules apply as far as TV goes.
I was shocked everyone stayed up until midnight. Truthfully, I was the only one struggling to stay awake.
I surprised my girls with some sparkling grape juice so we could toast the New Year.
This absolutely blew their minds. Haha! We had a lot of fun with it :)
New Year's Day was more of the same .... lay around, eat a little, lay around, eat a little.
My parents, who usually cook on New Year's, were out of town so I spent all day cooking the traditional NYD meal.
The showstopper may have been this Chocolate Chip Poundcake ....
... which surely shatters any resolutions to lose weight in 2013.
But, good ... very good.
Eric's parents came for dinner. We all ate and then headed back to the sofa like the sloths we are to watch a movie.
So, yes, tomorrow morning, we will be in absolute shock. I'm trying to be encouraging about heading back to school, but honestly, it's a stretch for me.

I hear you on it being difficult to accept the idea of school again! My husband went back to work today and my youngest starts back to school tomorrow. I am really trying to fight this feeling of gloom I have floating around in my heart! It doesn't feel good.
There is something to say about routine I suppose - I am trying to look at it that way!
I hope your first day back went smoothly?!

I too was dreading going to sleep last night (I know -odd) but just knowing I had to work today made me cringe. In trying to look for the good I realized at least I didn't have to jump full force with getting the boys up and back in school. I have until Monday for that!!
Happy New Year to you and your family! Love you all!
Remind me next year... do not let Kea have Mt Dew just before the new year rings in.... or once again I will be up well into morning of the new year!! Lol!!
Hey Deidre!
I thought it just might profit you to know that Melanie's having a link party over at her blog. I hope your first day back in reality went well (lol)
