Eric Says ...

I recently asked Eric a few questions (taken from another blog, I'm sure, but can't remember where or when) just to see if we remember things the same.  I thought it would be fun to hear how his answers differ from my own.

His answers are first and my comments are in blue because, of course, I can't go without commenting.

How long have we been married?

My gosh, we got married in 1996 .... wait ... we've been married (counting on fingers) 16 years, 3 months and 9 days.

(True.  I knew he would get that one right).

Where was our first date?

That depends on what you're talking about.  Are you talking about after we met in Raleigh? Or the real first date? To the movies in Hickory?

(Nope.  It was actually a year earlier when we had dinner at a friend's house and watched a movie.  I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.  It's confusing which one is the 'first'.)

Why did you stand me up four times?

I never intended on standing you up.  Are you sure it was four? Why are we talking about that?

(Umm ... yes, it was four.)

Where was our first kiss?

In my condo .... on Vann Street.

(For some reason he was proud of the fact he remembered the street :)

Who first said "I Love You"?

I did.  Because you like BLTs.

(True Story).

When did you know you wanted to marry me?

It was early on.  Like within the first four months of dating.  I was standing on my back deck when I first thought of it.

(Awww .... sweet.  I remember that night, though I had no idea he was thinking marriage).

What were our wedding colors?

You mean bridesmaids? Black.  And we had white roses with pink tips.

(Correct).

What was your favorite thing about our wedding?

When you came down the aisle.  Oh and that we laughed throughout the ceremony.

(My favorite moments, too.)

What will I say is my least favorite thing about our wedding?

Ceremony or reception? Maybe that we had too many bridesmaids and ushers?  Or that I wasn't in the room when you tossed your bouquet?  I was in the other room eating cake with my friends.

(Yes, he wanted a lot of groomsmen.  Ten.  But, my least favorite memory is by far that he was nowhere to be found when I threw my bouquet.  We found him sitting down in another room eating cake with his cousin, Harriette.)

What is the best meal I have ever cooked you?

That's a really tough question for me.  Ummmm ... (face in hands) can I say one thing before you type? I'm really struggling because I'm thinking of specific items and maybe you mean a complete meal.  So, one of my favorite items you have ever made me is Chicken Kiev.  I also like your chicken casserole.  Ugh, there are so many.  Your best top-to-bottom meal is when you've made roast, green beans, macaroni and cheese, cornbread and chess pie.  And probably the most excited I have ever been about a dessert is when you found the recipe for chess pie.  I couldn't believe it. Oh and sweet cornbread.  That is currently my favorite thing.  Okay, that's all I'm saying.  For now.

(This answer took entirely too long!  Geez, it's all about the food :)

What is the worst meal I have ever cooked you?

The first meatloaf you ever made.

(He answered that a little too quickly.  He also said I make a good meatloaf now.  Way to recover.)

What is the most-played song on my iPod?

I has to be something by Bon Jovi but I don't know what song.  It could be something else like Travis Cottrell but I imagine it's Bon Jovi because of how much you run.

(Neither. It's David Crowder's Come and Listen and Only You is a close second).

What would I say is your most annoying habit?

Uh oh.  You would list about five.  I'll say popping my knuckles.

(Yes, five.  But, I won't name them ;)

What is the last thing I do before I go to bed?

(Laughing).  You pull your pants legs down. Do I need to talk about the whole routine? Like do I start with the whole face cleansing process? Lotion on your hands? All of it?

(Smarty pants.  Hey, does anyone else get in bed and hate when their pants legs are all wadded up around their knees? And, yes, I have a lot of issues about my bedtime routine.  I exhaust myself.)

What would you say is your most favorite thing about me?

I love the way you love me and the girls.  You're always thinking of little ways to make us happy.  I also love the way you exercise your faith.  Oh and I love your eyes.

(Sweet.)

What's my favorite drink?

Wow.  I'm going to have to say on a hot day it would be a Sonic Diet Cherry Limeade with vanilla.  On a cold day, a skinny, decaf, peppermint mocha with 2 splendas and whipped cream.

But, really, what do I drink everyday?

Water.

(I haven't had a soft drink or anything else for 7 weeks! Maybe an occasional glass of cranberry juice in the mornings, but that's it.)

What's my favorite food?

Hmmmm ... I'd say Pizza.  Or maybe steak with a good sweet potato and salad.

(I'm soooo not a food person so I would have answered chocolate :) And certainly not steak.)

What is my favorite thing to do?

Go to Blowing Rock.

(True.)

What color do I wear the most?

Black or charcoal.

Wait, is that every day or just on Sundays?

Well, mainly on Sundays.  You do have some colored sweater things.

(I'm not sure what he means, but considering I ironed his shirts last week and noticed 12 blue shirts, I'm not going to worry about my color :)

What do you wish I would spend more time doing?

Massaging my neck.

Wait, that's more for you.

I know.

(I guess I'm thankful he didn't say 'laundry'.)

What makes me happiest?

Being at home with our family, snuggled up on the sofa together.

(Pretty accurate.)

How many kids did I want?

Four.

(Correct.)

What's the funniest thing about me?

Your sarcastic humor and quick wit.  You crack me up daily.

(Good to know.)

What do I consider a good date?

One that has no children and we aren't rushed.  You want a nice dinner and maybe a movie.  Did I say a nice dinner?

(Puh-lease.  I can do without the dinner.  I could seriously go through a drive-thru and head straight to a movie.  Or skip the dinner altogether.)

What would the perfect day look like for me?

No school.  No work for me.  No demands.  A beautiful, fall day and time with family outdoors.

(Sounds good to me!)

This is so fun.

But....what?????? What do you mean you aren't a food person?!!!!! Does that mean you don't really dig food?

That is wrong. I love food. That is why I run....a lot....so I can eat....a lot.

I wish I didn't love food.

Love this, but Eric would have had to write a book to tell about all the things you do before bed! Hahaha!!!

How fun is this. I may have to ask my husband these questions.
I thought of your blog today and its name. My bible study is doing the woman of the bible and today our study was on Esther...what a woman she was!
Have a great day!

Haa!! What fun! Maybe I should ask B.... but I am almost afraid to ask some of them. After 20 years you would think he would know the answers to all of them... lol!! I am sure my comments would be A LOT longer than yours!!
