I'm sure "Anonymous #2" doesn't get that post completely, because they don't know my "D". Teaching Bible studies and teaching Sunday School classes is different your "personal" time with the LORD about what HE wants you to learn. As a "teacher", God gives you a lesson for others (and sometimes you), but in your quiet time, it's all about what God wants for YOU. She needs that time separate from the others like we ALL do. I hope YOU find that time on edification. John 3:30. May HE increase, and your desire to speak decrease. - Eric (Deidre's Husband)

I can already tell I will love these posts on abiding. I do hope you plan to continue them every Wednesday. Thank you for opening up your life to so many even though it must be hard for you. I never thought about having other devotion books to read throughout the day. That makes perfect sense. I am looking forward to next Wednesday (hint hint)

You are a wonderful encouragement to me in spiritual things! I don't really have a friend in real life, who gives me such practical ways to follow the Lord and parent my children, with eternity in view. I appreciate your honesty! I really enjoy reading HOW you put the Lord first! Please continue to write posts like this one because they are very helpful to many of us!

I have to say I have been VERY bothered by your anonymous #2 person's comment. This is your blog and this is how you do your own quiet time, what is it to her/or him! What works best for one person might not work for another. Hello, at least you are in God's Word! The only thing to do is PRAY for this person!

I always gain insight on new ways to study or walk with God, and I so love getting new ideas for books to read, many of which I read twice. I just love you! Don't ever allow critics to destroy all of the goodness that God is using you to convey.

GREAT...GREAT....post my friend. I so loved reading and hearing about the manner in which you have your quiet time. God is so faithful to meet us...when we do find that still quiet place to meet him.

I also liked how you shared about doing your quiet time, separate from bible study. That's so key.

I am so sorry that Anonymous people can be so hurtful. You keep on being you. I thank you for your sincerity and willingness to be vulnerable and help. I loved this post. This was very helpful to me. I, too, love hearing how others "do quiet time". A couple years ago, I did journaling with my own quiet time and I got so much out of it. I will have to go that route again, I think. I have been loving the Jesus Calling devotional book. There is so much applicable truth in her short paragraphs. More times than not, it's just what I needed.

I have a prayer journal that I pray with a couple of times during the day. I read a passage from the Bible each morning.

My quiet time is similar. I try very hard to get up before my kids though that does not always happen. I try to journal though that does not always happen either. I have a favorite devotional book I read from and make a prayer list when I'm through.

Deidre, Thank you so much for your post. This is helping me more than you know in my quiet time. For me, some mornings it is hard to find quiet time, but I started out this year to have my quiet time first thing in the morning. I am on my second time with Jesus Calling. I love it. I have never thought of using two devotionals, and having some laying around to pick up during the day. Thanks for sharing. love ya.

My routine is almost identical to yours! Love, love, love looking back through journals and seeing all the ways God has been faithful to me, and also sometimes being reminded that I should not still be struggling with the same issues, and need to get with it:-)
I agree, wholeheartedly, my time with God is like air to me, and I cannot get through the day with out it and Him. Thanks so much for sharing!
